Wallpapers

I decided to use text for two of my wallpapers. I kept the theme consistent with the same images throughout. It took 4-5 layers for each of the wallpapers.

Assignment 7

My article talks about the benefits of coconut oil. It has been used largely for baking purposes, but has received criticism over the past few years for containing saturated fats. Yet if used in moderation there should be no harm in consuming coconut oil. Other oils that people opt to use rather than coconut oil are peanut or soy. This is because they contain polyunsaturated fats. The argument for coconut oil continues and can be further explored on the website.

This is my original live trace image of coconut pie. I wanted to explore further and use something other than just coconuts. I found the image of coconut pie through a google search.

For the collage I chose to incorporate a few logos and images from our previous collage project. I lowered the opacity on most of the images so that the background would show through. This project has more muted colors as opposed to my others. I still like the way this project turned out since it is different from my other ones, yet the message of coconuts still comes across.

Assignment 6.5

I did this paper collage representing a coconut. I used all the colors that were given to us so that the tropical theme carried through. The outcome is similar to one of my coconut icons. The coconut is broken in half and facing opposite directions.

Assignment 6

I made playful text logos by using some vibrant colors and changing the font. For my first one I used sunset colors, which relates back to the tropical theme. As for the second text logo I used the vertical font tool and created a bulge in the middle to represent the round shape of a coconut. My color choice also emphasizes the "roundness" of the text. The third I used the type on a path tool. By using this tool I was able to create a "coconut" using text. The further back the text goes the lighter it gets and I used 4 different fonts creating my third text logo. For the last text logo I chose a simple font and green as the color. The green text compliments the green in my palm leaf and tree logos.

I used a palm tree for a logo because it is often related to coconuts and has a tropical theme. I wanted to keep the tropical theme consistent throughout all my work. The eraser and knife tool helped me to create the look of the palm tree. I decided to use big, blocky shapes to create a fun feeling. As for my second logo I used a palm leaf. Once again the eraser and knife tool helped me to create this logo. I chose to use a different approach and just outline the life against the background. Then complimented the leaf by cutting up the background.

I chose to use coconuts to help describe my object since it was coconut scented shampoo. For the first logo I created a simplified coconut broken in half. I like the simplicity because it is not overwhelming for the viewer, but still reads as a coconut. For the other logo I used a broken coconut again, but with a more involved design. The knife tool helped me make the jagged, broken edges of the second coconut. More attention is drawn to it because of the pink background.

Assignment 4

I took out the text on the shampoo bottle so that it would look less like an advertisement. Then after the first improvements I went on to the hue/saturation. Then selected areas with the rectangular marquee and elliptical marquee tool to make more specific changes. During all the changes I stuck mainly to color changes, hue/saturation, brightness/contrast and black and white. I then skewed part of the shampoo bottle. Since the shampoo is coconut scented I chose a tropical theme with the flowers. The color choices enhance the overall tropical/psychedelic feeling.

Assignment 3

I chose the "tropical" background of my purse. Since the fragrance of the shampoo is more feminine I wanted to pair it with flowers. The white of the bottle also goes with the white on the purse. The gold lid of the shampoo also compliments the yellow background.

The shampoo is overlapping in this image because it makes for a better composition. Since the flowers in the background are relatively close I wanted to continue in that sense. It creates a fun point of view.

Assignment 2

I stood further away and got a low view of the shampoo. I placed it by my door and stood back by my bed.

This is an aerial view. I laid my shampoo face up on the floor then stood above it for the shot.

I got up close at eye level for this shot. I cut off the top of the shampoo to create a more interesting image.

This one I placed on my cutting board then got underneath. The shampoo bottle towers because of the point of view.

This is an up close 3/4 view of the shampoo bottle. Since the face of the bottle had been shown in the other images I wanted to change the view.

This is a front on shot from eye level. Although this shot is simple it still came out very well.
